bloomon is turning the flower industry on its head – for the better. How? By disrupting the traditional supply chain, where most florists operate offline and have done for decades. bloomon creates seasonal collections using unusual stems to deliver unique flower arrangements on repeat. We always use field-fresh high-quality flowers straight from the grower and deliver to our customers through a high-tech and highly creative platform. Our e-commerce company launched in Amsterdam in 2014 and went from start-up to scale-up at hypersonic speed. We are already active in five countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, UK, and Denmark. Next step? to conquer Europe… and then the world. Our goal? To become the first global flower brand in the lifestyle segment, filling hearts and homes with happiness. One bouquet at a time.
What will you do?
Together with your front end guild you will be working on building user facing features, interface, APIs and core functions. Building reusable code and libraries for future use is critical here. You will ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and will be testing across multiple browsers, platforms. Based on the squad you will be part of you could be working on various projects, which could change per quarter. Think of developing a platform where purchasers plan and communicate with suppliers or creating our very own bloomon UI library (e.g. with storybook) to be used throughout the company by developers and UX designers or maybe storing front end input on-the-fly in a persistence layer..
How do we work?
Our working methodology is as disruptive as our stack and infrastructure. We just implemented the Squad model, founded by Spotify, where you work in a small, autonomous multi-disciplinary team. In addition, we use tools such as Slack, Jira, Github, and Trello to communicate efficiently and asynchronously -- this allows us to work with anyone, anywhere.We work from hubs spread out between Europe and Asia. And it works great!
After setting priorities, tasks enter a kanban (much like a living sprint), where developers set their own ETA which they themselves can monitor using time tracking. This way all our developers know exactly what to do, when and how. Next to that, this approach allows us to hire amazing developers from around the world, without having to compromise based on their location.
