Operations & Event Management Internship

Job description

bloomon is turning the flower industry on its head. How? By disrupting the traditional supply chain – where 99% of players operate offline – and delivering field-fresh flowers straight from growers to our customers. High-tech versus highly creative, our data-driven e-commerce company launched in Amsterdam in 2014 – and went from start-up to scale-up at hypersonic speed. We now deliver bouquets weekly, biweekly or monthly to your front door in five countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, UK and Denmark. Our ambition? To conquer Europe. Then the world. Our quest? To be the first global flower brand in the lifestyle segment. And fill hearts and homes with happiness. One bouquet at a time.

Operations at bloomon

We’re responsible for hand-tying and delivering tens of thousands of flowers per week across five countries (and counting). How? By combining a dedicated hands-on mentality with data-focused strategic thinking. We relish the challenge of keeping our blooms super fresh on their 36-hour journey from flower bed to table. We create every arrangement with care to ensure consistent superior quality as we spread happiness.   As the logistics hub for dozens of external depots per country, we operate our dense network of long-haul shipments and local traffic like pros. Our multidisciplinary team is organised, punctual, and results-oriented. We love seeing the rewards of our efforts in happy customers. We enjoy the freedom and opportunity to optimise the business environment where there is never a dull moment.

What will you do?

bloomon strives for operational excellence at a very high level by combining a dedicated hands-on mentality with data-focused strategic thinking, and always with the finest attention to every individual customer. Not only do we spread happiness amongst our current customers, we also like potential customers to experience the happiness of our flowers. We’re currently doing this at various workshops, fairs, PR-events, etc. in five countries across Europe. Of course our flowers need to be at their very best at every event and that’s where you as an Operations & Event Management intern can prove your operational excellence and skills.As an Operations & Event Management intern you’ll be the single point of contact for our Brand, PR and Sales teams when they are planning/organizing events. You know exactly how the entire supply chain works and therefore you’re the go-to person when it comes to organizing everything a certain event may require. The events you’ll be responsible for vary in all ways. One day you’ll be fulfilling requirements for a true flower tunnel (yes an actual tunnel filled with flowers) and the other day you may be preparing a tv commercial shoot that will be broadcasted in 5 countries. Besides these special projects you will provide our sales agents in all our countries with all the requirements they need to make their events a success.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Knowing all our operational processes and entire supply chain (sourcing, product, production, logistics, sales, branding, PR). This way you are able to organize and coordinate between all these teams;
  • Taking full ownership of providing events with our flowers (and also other non-flower products);
  • Aligning all our processes, people and partners so that everything comes together in the right place at the right time, without affecting daily operations;
  • Analyzing data and coming up with ideas for improvement and reporting purposes.

Requirements

What do we expect from you?

  • BSc recent graduate (or ending phase);
  • Experience in organizing events, coordinating tasks, teams and/or projects;
  • Analytical skills together with experience in basic tools (experience with Excel is a must);
  • Structured approach to work, able to plan ahead and keep overview in a challenging work environment;
  • Strong problem solver and ownership taker, always thinking 2 steps ahead;
  • Pro-active and ‘can do’ attitude;
  • Able to work independently but also a good team player;
  • Passion for startups and ecommerce;
  • Available on short notice for approximately 6 months (full time);
  • In the possession of a valid driving license (B) and living in or near Amsterdam.
